JDH This is sort of similar to Biosphere Substrata or Cirque.Geir handles production and it shows. If I did not know it,I would think it is Biosphere. Many of his trademark sounds from this era are there especially the circular delayed effects. This is a bit darker in tone than those two with a muddy sound (in a good way),even a slight industrial feel at times with a few 4/4 beats near the end but in keeping with the rest. All tracks are mixed together.Very enjoyable 55 minutes. Favorite track: Naut-O-Pilot.

Almo! I found this because its producer, Gier Jenssen (Biosphere) posted a track on his Facebook page. I'm very glad I did, because it is an excellent example of this kind of ambient music. The collection of beatless tracks builds to a head with two rhythmic tracks at the end. Great stuff! Favorite track: Anthropomorphism.

about

Discogs: "Superb production by Geir Jenssen, but this album is quite capable of standing on it's own as a fantastic slice of artic ambience. Dark, murky, and bearing a passing resemblance to mid-period Biosphere albums like "Substrata", "Black Smoker" creates a turbulent, gaseous atmosphere filled with subtle sequenced bleeps, thudding bass, and hints of glitchy rhythym. On only a few tracks, notably "Dark Little Something", does Opdahl break out some 4/4 drums, which blend suprisingly well with the darkness. Overall, highly recommended, and an excellent second release for Biophon."
